My system flashed several warnings. Then it locked up, went blank, started randomly, slowed down suddenly. One morning it crashed. Kaboom! Gone!

The mechanic started with a quiz. “Did you see strange error messages? Pop-up alerts about firewalls? Unsavoury pictures on the screen when you booted?” I nodded. He tickled the desktop a bit and announced, “Your system has a virus.” (Just one?) “Some people find new toolbars in the browser, new shortcuts on the desktop they didn't put there, new items in the system tray at the bottom of the screen.” (Note: new toolbars/shortcuts often come bundled with software you actually want; they may not be malicious — just annoying.)

DIFFERENT VIRUSES

 I needed computer wellness lessons. “Virus is a tiny program designed to infect a machine (files in the machine),” said an ethical hacker (EH).  “When the file is opened, it goes into memory, and infects all files opened. When an infected program is opened on another machine it infects all files in that machine also.” And yes, there are different virus types — those that infect only files, those that infect documents, excel files, boot record/partition and those smart hybrid ones which infect all the above. Classification is based on what they infect.

NEW DELHI: The TOI campaign on the passport logjam has made the government put reforms on the fast track. In an unprecedented move, the ministry of external affairs on Thursday announced a 'Passport Mela' this weekend at many PSKs countrywide - the kendras will remain open on Saturday and Sunday and people can just walk in, without an appointment. This practice will continue till the entire backlog has been cleared.

In a special briefing to TOI, Raghavendra Shastry, adviser to external affairs minister S M Krishna, gave details of fresh measures that are expected to address the concerns raised by the people - and reported by this newspaper to help make the new passport application process smoother and transparent.

தலைமை / துணை அஞ்சல் அதிகாரிகளின் கனிவான பார்வைக்கும்,நடவடிக்கைக்கும் முக்கிய செய்தி

புதிதாக அறிமுகப் படுத்தப் படும் வணிகப் பணிகளுக்கு , அதற்கான TIME FACTOR  வகுக்கப் படாததால்  , அந்தப் பணியைப்  பார்ப்பதற்கான AGENCY COMMISSION இல் 25% அதில் பணியாற்றும் ஊழியருக்கு வழங்கிட வேண்டும் என்று ஏற்கனவே நாம் உத்திரவு பெற்றதை பலமுறை  நம் வலைத்தளத்திலும் , சுற்றறிக்கையிலும் தெரிவித்திருந்தோம் . ஆனாலும் இதுவரை நம்  கோட்டத்தில்  இதற்கான பில்   போடப் படவில்லை  என்பது வருத்தமே.

தற்போது EB BILL பெற்றிட ஒரு BILL க்கு  ரூ. 10.00 கமிஷன்  ஆகப்  பெறுகிறோம்.    இதில் 25%  என்பது  ரூ. 2.50 ஆகும்.   MPCM COUNTER CLERK கிற்கு ரூ. 2.00 ம்  SUPERVISORக்கு ரூ. 0.50 ம் INCENTIVE  ஆகப் பெறமுடியும். இதனை படித்த பிறகாவது  உடன் பில் போட நமது  கோட்டத்தில் உள்ள அனைத்து அஞ்சல்  அதிகாரிகளையும் அன்புடன் கேட்டு கொள்கிறோம். 

அதே போல தபால் காரர்களுக்கு  ஆதார்  கடிதம் பட்டுவாடா செய்ய ஒரு  கடிதத்திற்கு 0.50  PAISE ஊக்கத் தொகை வழங்கிட  இலாக்கா  உத்திரவு இட்டுள்ளது .நமது தபால்கார தோழர்களுக்கு  இந்தப் பயனைப் பெற்றுக் கொடுக்க நமது  கோட்டத்தில் உள்ள அனைத்து அஞ்சல்  அதிகாரிகளையும் கோட்ட  சங்கம் வேண்டுகிறது.

SEXUAL HARRASSMENT OF WOMEN IN THE WORK PLACE – FAQ ON REMEDIAL MEASURES

1. Whether there is any Rule for Prohibition of Sexual harassment of Working Woman?

Yes Rule 3 C of CCS (Conduct) Rules, 1964 prohibits sexual harassment of any woman at her workplace.

2. What are the specific provisions of the Rule?

(1) No Government Servant shall indulge in any act of sexual harassment of any woman at her workplace.

(2) Every Government Servant who is in charge of a workplace shall take appropriate steps to prevent sexual harassment to any woman at such workplace.

Explanation: For the purpose of this Rule. ‘Sexual harassment’ includes such un-welcomed sexually determined behaviour whether directly or otherwise, as

(a) physical contact and advances;

(b) demand or request for sexual favour;

(c) sexually coloured remarks;

(d) showing any pornography; or

(e) any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature.

            Federal Secretariat endorsed the decision of Confederation National Executive to organize Parliament March on 26thJuly, 2012 and one day token strike thereafter. It is decided to make the Parliament March a historic success by rallying Ten Thousand participants from NFPE and its affiliated union’s. Campaign programme shall also be implemented in all circles as per the confederation circular. Each affiliate has decided to ensure participation of delegates as shown below:

Sub : Payment of arrears to the substitutes of Gramin Dak Sevaks who worked in leave vacancies from 01.01.2006 to 09.10.2009.

Consequent upon the implementation of one man Committee recommendations, the matter regarding payment of arrears to the substitutes has been reviewed.

2.          It has now been decided that the arrears of allowances of the substitutes of Gramin Dak Sevaks who worked in leave vacancies from 01.01.2006 to 09.10.2009 may be paid on the basis of minimum of TRCA.

3.        The amount of arrears admissible as per extant rules may be paid to the genuine substitute. There should not be any double payment. The DDO or paying authority should take every precaution in this regard.

4.        Necessary provision in Budget should be made at appropriate stage and availability of funds will have to be ensured before incurring the proposed expenditure.

5.        The actual expenditure incurred may be informed to this office immediately after payment of arrears.

6.        This issues with the concurrence of Internal Finance Advice(Postal) vide their Dy No 158/FA/12/CS dated 30.05.2012.
